Do I need to let Healix Health Services know when I have chosen my specialist and booked an appointment?

Yes, all treatment must be pre-authorised to ensure it is eligible. Please contact your claims helpline or submit your appointment details through our online claims portal before attending.

Will I have a shortfall if I see a specialist who is not Fee Assured?

It depends on the terms and conditions applicable to your healthcare scheme. Please refer to your scheme guide or the welcome email you received when opening your claim for further information. We would recommend booking with a Fee Assured specialist if you wish to avoid any potential risk of shortfalls, but the claims team are happy to advise regarding any shortfalls for a specific non-Fee Assured specialist where this information is available.

Am I restricted to seeing only Verified specialists?

No. A Verified specialist means they have recently treated Healix Health Services members, however all specialists who appear within the database are actively practicing and registered with the GMC (General Medical Council).

The specialist I have been recommended by my GP is not appearing on the Provider Finder, does this mean I cannot see them?

Not necessarily. Please contact the claims helpline if you wish to see a specific specialist who doesn’t appear in your search results, we will be happy to investigate whether they are eligible for your claim.

How do I know what type of specialist I need to see?

This will be advised by your GP or referring medical professional. Healix Health Services will not be able to advise which type of specialist you should see, so please ensure you know this information before using the claims portal.

Am I able to self-refer to see a specialist?

For most claims, you will need a GP referral to see a specialist. There are certain benefits where you may be able to self-refer; the table of benefits within your scheme guide will give further guidance.

I want to see a Fee Assured specialist, however there are none appearing in my local area.

Please contact the claims helpline, we will be happy to help you source an appropriate specialist.

Can I attend any hospital listed on the Provider Finder?

There may be certain restrictions that apply to your healthcare scheme. This will always be outlined in the welcome email received after opening a new claim, and/or in your scheme guide. If there is no mention of hospital restrictions in this email or guide, you are free to choose any hospital convenient for you.
